The Senior Market Research Manager performs external and internal research about relevant industry news, competitor intel, customer intel, and product intel using internal and external resources and quantitative and qualitative inputs. They use automation to curate as much as possible and prioritize their time generating insights based on that intel that are focused on commercial impact and action. They disseminate as much as possible to product marketing colleagues, sales, client care, and product with automation and into relevant workflows. They are independent and self-led to perform the work necessary to support commercial success. This role involves overseeing the collection and analysis of critical market and competitor and customer data, ensuring that insights are relevant to commercial decisions.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Perform market research – industry, competition, customer – that cover prioritized product categories, growth categories, customer categories, and GTM needs
• Partner with stakeholders to design research studies to support willingness to pay, opportunity assessments, pricing validation, ICP validation and effectiveness
• Conduct continuous “desktop” research to monitor external sources
• Set up internal data feeds to collect internal intel
• Automate as much of the administration and operation of this work for self and others
Generate insights for use in commercial or GTM decisions including product development decisions and ICP prioritization, GTM strategies targeted at ICPs, and GTM monitoring for shifts in ICP
• Meet the needs for product, product marketing, growth marketing, sales, client success stakeholders at all levels accordingly
• Build relationships to understand those needs and to collect feedback
• Establish monitoring systems to assess effectiveness against ICPs and key objectives
Distribute insights into the workflow of stakeholders across the business and at a variety of levels
• Feed insights into the workflow of groups as much as possible
• Create some static deliverables or reports as determined needed
• Automate as much of the administration and operation of this work for self and others
Contribute to the product marketing organization as a senior team member to support colleagues and other business or project leaders
• Lead some projects across function
• Lead projects within the department
Maintain some vendor relationships or software needs for research
YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:
• 7+ years of market research or intel, competitive intelligence, product marketing, business intelligence, market strategy, or related commercial insight functions
• Experience designing and executing quantitative and qualitative research initiatives
• Experience translating market, customer, and competitive intelligence into business recommendations
• Experience with survey tools/platforms, research tools, and AI- or automation-enabled productivity tools/solutions
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Skill in designing and executing market, customer, and competitive research programs: Partners with stakeholders to define research objectives and selects appropriate quantitative and qualitative methodologies to answer business-critical questions related to market opportunity, pricing, ideal customer profiles, competitive positioning, and product strategy. Produces reliable, actionable findings that support commercial decision-making.
• Ability to synthesize complex intelligence into commercially actionable insights: Integrates industry trends, competitor intelligence, customer feedback, product information, and internal business data to identify opportunities, risks, emerging market shifts, and strategic implications. Translates findings into clear recommendations that influence product investment, ICP prioritization, go-to-market decisions, and growth strategies.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining market, customer, and competitive intelligence systems: Develops repeatable processes, monitoring frameworks, and intelligence repositories that provide ongoing visibility into market conditions, customer behavior, competitive activity, and business performance. Ensures decision-makers have timely access to relevant insights rather than one-time research outputs.
• Skill in research automation and operational efficiency: Leverages technology, AI, automation tools, and system integrations to streamline intelligence collection, analysis, dissemination, and maintenance activities. Continuously improves workflows to increase scalability, reduce manual effort, and maximize organizational access to insights.
• Ability to operationalize insights within business workflows: Embeds research findings into stakeholder processes, planning cycles, dashboards, enablement materials, and decision-making forums rather than relying solely on static reports. Ensures intelligence is readily accessible and used to improve commercial outcomes.
• Ability to independently prioritize, execute, and lead high-impact research initiatives: Operates with minimal direction to identify priorities, manage competing stakeholder requests, conduct analyses, lead cross-functional projects, and deliver outcomes aligned with strategic business objectives. Demonstrates sound judgment in focusing effort on the research activities with the greatest commercial impact.
IT WOULD BE IDEAL IF YOU HAVE:
• Experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, HR technology, learning technology, or related industries
• Experience building automated intelligence, monitoring, or research operations programs
• Experience supporting executive-level strategic and go-to-market decisions
IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:
