Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is Amazon's service for worldwide sellers, offering access to Amazon's vast distribution network as a service. Sellers in 135 countries worldwide — from Fortune 50 companies to hundreds of thousands of small businesses and entrepreneurs — rely on our world-leading technology to grow and thrive across Amazon's marketplaces.
Global from Day 1 is a bold new program within FBA making it possible for sellers to reach customers worldwide — not someday, but immediately. Multi-country sellers earn 70% more revenue on average, yet only ~30% list in more than one country today. We're changing that.
We are building a marketplace-agnostic Global Inventory Pool at Amazon's scale — where sellers ship their product once and replenish seamlessly across all FBA regions worldwide. This means building the foundational systems that represent, track, and integrate inventory across Amazon's global fulfillment network in real time, at massive scale, connecting to every layer of the fulfillment stack — leveraging AI frontier technologies to give sellers and Amazon real-time intelligence over global inventory at a scale never done before.
Key job responsibilities
- Architect and build highly reliable, scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems that power Amazon's marketplace-agnostic Global Inventory Pool — designing services that represent, track, and integrate inventory across the global fulfillment network in real time, enabling sellers to ship once into GWD and seamlessly replenish across all FBA regions worldwide. Own the end-to-end design from the seller's experience through to every layer of the fulfillment stack, with low-latency, high-availability guarantees at massive scale.
- Drive engineering and operational excellence across the full software lifecycle — from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operations — setting a high bar for software quality through code reviews, design reviews, and automated testing; improving CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alarming, and incident response for mission-critical inventory systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Operations, and Sellers to define and refine end-to-end inventory workflows, translating complex seller needs and business requirements into clean, maintainable, and well-tested system designs.
- Leverage AI and frontier technologies to build real-time intelligence capabilities over global inventory — enabling sellers and Amazon to make data-driven decisions on inventory placement, replenishment, and cross-border supply chain optimization at a scale never done before.
- Mentor and coach SDEs on the team — training teammates on how the team's distributed inventory systems are constructed, how they operate, how they integrate across the fulfillment stack, and how to produce high-quality, production-ready code through mechanisms like code reviews.
- Identify and resolve complex, ambiguous technical problems autonomously — proactively investigating system bottlenecks, proposing architectural improvements, and influencing technical direction within the team to ensure the Global Inventory Pool platform scales with Amazon's global growth.
