Can you strengthen frontline healthcare worker preparedness during one of the world’s largest Ebola outbreaks?

UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. Born of the NHS, we’ve been working for over 30 years towards a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises or disasters hit.

We are seeking an experienced health professional to establish and lead the training function of UK-Med’s Ebola training and simulation programmes in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease (BDBV) outbreak continues to place significant pressure on national health systems and response capacities. Fluency in French (written and spoken) is essential for this role. Candidates must be able to facilitate training, manage teams and engage with stakeholders confidently in French.

Since cases were first reported in May 2026, the outbreak has spread across multiple provinces, with community transmission ongoing and linked cases confirmed in neighbouring countries. As of 26 October 2026, DRC has reported over 10,000 confirmed cases and nearly 4,900 deaths, with the highest burden concentrated in Ituri, North Kivu and Haut-Uélé provinces.

Working closely with WHO, the Ministry of Health and international partners, UK-Med is supporting efforts to strengthen outbreak preparedness and response through high-quality training, simulation exercises and workforce development. This includes plans to replicate WHO’s established Ebola Training Hub model, initially in Beni, North Kivu, with potential expansion to other priority locations.

You will oversee and coordinate the delivery of consistent, high-quality training programmes for healthcare workers, helping to build clinical confidence, improve infection prevention and control practices, and support safe patient care in a complex humanitarian setting. You will work closely with national stakeholders, international partners and programme leadership to ensure training activities are high-quality, well-coordinated, practical and responsive to operational needs.

The role requires strong technical expertise, adaptability and the ability to work effectively in resource-constrained environments. We are looking for an individual who can combine specialist knowledge with collaboration, flexibility and a commitment to strengthening local capacity during a critical public health emergency.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the Ebola response in DRC, supporting healthcare workers and health systems at a time when their expertise is needed most.
