About the role
We’re hiring an Accounting Manager to own the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the company’s books. You will be an early leader in the Finance team, responsible for the accounting operations of a new company that is raising capital, developing a project pipeline, and reporting to a sophisticated institutional investor.
This is a hands-on role for an accountant who is equally comfortable with technical accounting questions and the day-to-day work of running a clean close. You will work closely with the Controller, FP&A, project teams, and the finance groups at The Nuclear Company and Brookfield, and you will play a central role in making sure the company’s financial foundation is ready to scale with the business.
Responsibilities
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and flux analysis
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and support reporting packages required by Brookfield and other investors
• Oversee accounts payable, cash management, and payroll accounting, including project-specific payments such as per diem and premium pay
• Account for capitalized project development costs, construction in progress, and the transition from development to construction
• Support job cost accounting and project cost tracking, including commitments, change orders, retainage, and cost-to-complete, in partnership with project controls
• Manage intercompany accounting and shared-service arrangements between the JV and its parent companies, including cost allocations and related-party transactions
• Support accounting for equity contributions, capital calls, debt facilities, and other financing arrangements
• Apply technical accounting guidance to complex and unusual transactions, such as joint venture accounting, government grants and loan programs, tax credits, and asset retirement obligations
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and investors on audits, reviews, and information requests
• Support tax compliance, including sales and use, property, and income tax, and coordinate with tax advisors on structuring considerations
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation appropriate for a new company with institutional ownership
• Partner with Finance and Legal on contract review, vendor onboarding, and procurement controls
• Maintain accurate records to support audits, regulatory inspections, and government funding requirements
Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting or corporate accounting, and at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
• CPA license or equivalent qualification
• Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system and advanced Excel skills
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit readiness
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-accountants, including project and engineering leaders
• Comfort with ambiguity, speed, and shifting priorities in a startup environment
• Experience in construction, energy, power, utilities, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive industries
Preferred Experience
• Experience with job cost accounting, construction in progress, or long-term project accounting
• Experience in a joint venture, an investor-backed company, or alongside an asset manager or infrastructure investor
• Familiarity with government grant, loan guarantee, or tax credit accounting
• Experience with NetSuite or a comparable cloud ERP, and with consolidation or reporting tools
• Experience implementing accounting processes and controls in a new or rapidly growing company
• Exposure to regulated industries and nuclear project accounting
• Willingness to travel to project sites and partner offices
Benefits
