As a Pharmacy Technician, you will help manage prescription preparation, accurate medication labeling, secure storage, and replenishment of pharmaceutical supplies within your authorized scope and applicable pharmacist supervision. Your work will also support the approved formulary, long-lead inventory planning, patient-facing pharmacy questions within scope, and documentation in the electronic health record.
The pharmacy function includes accountability for controlled substances and appropriate escalation of discrepancies, with responsibilities limited to what your authorization and supervision permit. Maintaining accurate stock records, following approved storage requirements, and communicating supply needs early are especially useful when medications have long replenishment lead times. Clinical questions remain with authorized prescribers or pharmacists. This separation between technical pharmacy support and clinical decision-making helps maintain accurate, safe medication services. Pharmacy quality controls support the same objective.
